A French Cafe-Inspired Editorial

The Greenery, New Hampshire

about the project

Hosted at The Greenery in Milton, New Hampshire, Catherine of Mirth Events Co had a vision to transform the space into a French cafe. When she presented me with her mood board filled with lilacs and bistro-inspired accents, my creative wheels immediately began to turn.

We designed a fully custom suite for this project, with the main muse being the scalloped, striped, and flower-filled awnings of a Parisian cafe. We drew typography inspiration from Catherine’s recent trip to Paris, where open serif fonts were abundant. I created a custom scalloped envelope liner to tie into this theme, designed in a striped pattern to mirror the table linens. The scalloped edge was carried into the details card, which mapped out a timeline of the weekend events. Small line illustrations guided guests through each of the weekend activities. For the reply card, I illustrated the front of The Greenery building with the addition of an awning and bistro set. The entire suite was tucked into a custom pocket, printed with vintage lilac artwork and a die cut shape where the duogram was peeking through. I alternated colors of paper to create visual interest and dimension in the stack. The outer envelope tied in shades of green, calligraphy addressing, and the most perfect postage set to tie in all the details. This was one of those designs that really worked itself out seamlessly as the vision was flowing freely.

In the reception space, a family-style table was set with fluted glassware, beaded tableware, and the most beautifully curated floral arrangements by Jess of Miel Floral. The table was set underneath the bistro lighting installation by Griffin & Griffin, along the back wall of windows. I designed custom die cut menus in the same oval-esque shape of the duogram, topped with champagne silk ribbon and calligraphy name tags guiding each guest to their seat.

The fashion, hair styling, and makeup artistry were all an instrumental part of the day. Our bridal model, Gwyneth, rocked two gorgeous looks and brought so much of the vision to life. Styling flat lays alongside my dear friend Megan of The New Romantic filled my creative bucket and highlighted how much we are better together. She also knocked it out of the park with these photos (along with Matt on video). Catherine shared so much trust and creative freedom with me along the way, bringing out the very best of my work. This creative team was an absolute joy to work with - each and every person bringing excitement, collaborative expertise, and an abundance of talent to the table. I could not be more grateful!
