Of Light & Letters, Refreshed

Going into 2023, I was not expecting the amount of growth that I saw for my business. Thanks to some wonderful vendor friends, it was filled with incredible opportunities to continue elevating my work into the level of creative freedom that I love most. I always knew that when the time was right, I would work with Ida of Hygge Design Co to be my brand designer. After what turned out to be such a wonderful year, it felt like I was settling into my business as my own.

Going into the process, I told Ida that I wanted my brand to feel like “old-world European charm meets classic, coastal New England.” My design style falls in between the traditional romance and clean, classic lines, so I wanted my brand to reflect that. I think she absolutely nailed it.

The primary logo is the most robust design, including the wordmark, logo icon, and description of what my business offers. I absolutely love how this encompasses all the pieces Ida designed in a seamless way. The frame around the icon reminds me of traditional wainscot in a historical French chateau. We played around quite a bit with the ampersand, wanting to get just the right design. The italic option from our font was the perfect amount of ornate detailing to elevate the classic serif font. The color palette covered these same themes, grounded in ivory, sky, and forest shades, paired with notes of lemon, charcoal, and sage.

One of my favorite elements is this pinstripe pattern. It captures just the right amount of the coastal New England feel to highlight this gorgeous region I get to call home. Serving many couples in Newport, Boston, Cape Cod and islands, this pattern felt so natural to the summer seaside weddings we adorn.

Transitioning into my website, I knew I was going to work with the power team of women at Go Live. I had worked with them in the past and knew that their design expertise within Squarespace was exactly what I needed. Together with their designer Alex, we knocked out the bulk of my site within one day. She listened to my needs as a business, provided helpful recommendations, and implemented my brand guide from Ida seamlessly. One of the biggest goals of this new site was to grow into my newest offering: full custom wedding invitations. After a few years in the semi-custom realm, I was beginning to feel creatively boxed in by some of the designs. The shift into full custom work is one that feels long-anticipated for me. I look forward to the creative challenge, yet freedom, that comes from a limitless design board. It allows me to lean into all the nuances of my couples’ lives: their lifestyles, personal styles, and spaces that hold meaning for them. The semi-custom collection is not going anywhere, and that process will remain exactly the same for couples seeking that offering.

I could not feel more at home in this brand refresh - it captures exactly where I am headed as a business, with room to grow and evolve. Thank you for being on this journey with me, friends!
