An Italian-Inspired Luncheon at SRV Boston

I had the pleasure of partnering with WIPA Boston on their first quarterly event of 2025 - an Italian-inspired luncheon at SRV in South Boston. When Phoebe of AE Events first reached out to me about partnering on this event, things were still in the early planning stages. After just a few moments speaking about the location of SRV, we dove head-first into the Italian setting and she blurted out, “the theme is al dente!” - and so it was! We had way too much fun dreaming up potential concepts that incorporated pasta, fruits, vegetables, and tomato cans. The idea was to create something that felt natural and organic.

As guests arrived, the bar was set with stunning floral arrangements from the team at Orly Khon, mingling the floral elements with tomatoes, citrus fruits, and all placed inside tomato cans. We leaned into whimsical shapes with waves, loose calligraphy, and sprinkled in Italian language. SRV passed delicious appetizers and we sipped on spritzes. Maura of Dainty Scripts offered custom guest portraits in her signature watercolor style - these were the cutest addition to the day! Once we were ready for lunch, guests could find their seat from the selection of pots along the front window, turning the various plants into a live seating display.

At each table, guests were greeted by their names in red calligraphy on lasagna noodles - my favorite detail of the day! Each place was set with the stunning dinner plates from Honest Event Rentals and the tables carried over the same floral and tomato elements. I even used tomatoes as the table numbers, with white ink calligraphy on each one. The SRV team served us a delicious lunch menu in a family-style presentation. No detail went unnoticed as they prepared the various courses, each flavor perfectly complimenting the dish.

For the educational portion, Alyson Kenny of Chasing Civility shared a lesson in etiquette. We learned about the origins of many etiquette practices and how many of them have evolved today. Alyson kept things engaging and practical for where we can apply these principles within the wedding industry, a lesson I am sure to remember!
