A Note of Gratitude

As I wrap up my 2024 wedding season, I can’t help but look back with gratitude for all the work I was able to be a part of. Stepping into this Thanksgiving week, I wanted to share a note of thankfulness combined with a bit of a year-end reflection. Many of us wedding professionals have shared stories of how 2024 was a “weird” year. I can’t help but be grateful to God for each of the ways my calendar was filled - many of which were unexpected! Some wins include:

  • Launching my new branding and website

  • Playing a role in 10 weddings across 5 different states, all along the East Coast

  • Participating in multiple styled editorials

  • 1 new print publication in New Hampshire Magazine’s Bride

  • Joining a local professional organization, WIPA Boston, and sponsoring my first event

  • Working at stunning new venues as well as returning to some of my favorites

  • Deepening my sense of community within my local industry

Something I have always preached in my personal life is the significance of community. However, I neglected to really pursue that for my business. 2024 brought me such a wonderful community, especially within the smaller stationer/calligrapher niche. It is beautiful to watch people live out the value of community over competition - not only in talk, but in real actions. We have been each others cheerleaders for the wins and listening ear during the challenges. What a gift it is to have found these like-minded friends!

In light of Thanksgiving week, I wanted to share just a small gratitude list for this year.

  • Each and every couple who entrusted me with their most special paper goods - thank you from the bottom of my heart!! Bringing your stories to life through paper is a privilege and a gift. My hope is that they will be cherished for generations as a tangible heirloom of your love.

  • My creative partners - planners, photographers, and all who I have collaborated with. Each of you inspire and encourage me to be better. Thank you for your creative vision and trusting me to bring it to life. There are so many people I could call out by name.

  • To be trusted. As a highly visual person myself, I understand how nerve-wracking it can be to hire someone without seeing a final product. Weddings are very unique in that much of the design is not fully seen until it’s showtime. To be trusted with such an important, memorable, and transformative day is not something I take lightly!

  • My people - my husband, family, and friends. I could not do this work without your constant encouragement and covering me in prayer.

In my personal life, this year was absolutely jam-packed. We welcomed our newest nephew, saw so many of our favorite artists in concert, celebrated many friends getting married, took a trip to Puerto Rico with my family, and spent lots of time outside at Steven’s softball games. We certainly made up for all those rainy weekends last year! On a more regular basis, we continued serving in our church community, I hit a milestone of 150 pilates classes, and continued exploring our city.

As we wind down in this last month of 2024, I am looking forward to a restful Christmas season. Wishing you the same!

Because of God’s tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace. Luke 1:78-79
