A Summer Soiree at the ICA Boston

I had the absolute honor of being the stationery partner for the Q2 event with WIPA Boston. When Renee and Ashley of Baciare Events approached me with their vision for the space, I was immediately hooked. Hosted at the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) in Boston’s Seaport, they paired theme of abstract art with the movement of the coastal setting to create their design inspiration.

For the first portion of the event, guests enjoyed cocktails and bites from The Catered Affair out on the plaza. Inspired by the movement of the surrounding water and shades of blue, I sourced the perfect pearlescent acrylic for the bar signs. The design was laser-engraved into the acrylic and filled with white paint to create the stunning final product.

For the food signage, clear acrylic was printed with the contents of the menus. We incorporated movement through thick brush strokes of blue paints as the perfect wash of color to the display.

For the educational portion of the night, we transitioned into the lobby underneath the gorgeous installation by Igshaan Adams. The stage was set with a stunning floral perimeter by Orly Khon, perfectly complimenting the surrounding artwork. We heard from Natalie Pinney of Whim Events with an encouraging and practical message on how to build long-term joy and sustainability as a business owner.

After the program, we transitioned upstairs into the theater of the ICA. Renee and Ashley transformed this space into a moody, speakeasy space, adorned with rich textures and deep color palettes. We carried the theme of movement into this space with more engraved acrylic bar signage. These pieces looked like the perfect swirl of milk had just splashed into your espresso - right on theme for the affogato stations! A pinstriped pattern was carried through the evening signage at the food stations, drink coasters, and bar menus. The menus were a personal favorite item, featuring leather textures and gold hardware to hold it all together.

Participating in this event was a creative highlight of my year so far! I am grateful to have partnered with such a wonderful planning team, who was open to my ideas and entrusted me with space to explore. So many of my vendors went above and beyond to help me bring these pieces to fruition and I could not do this without their support. I am especially thankful for my fellow industry friends who cheered me on in this exciting night. The Boston wedding community has been wonderful to tap into and I adore the relationships that I have made! A big thank you to WIPA Boston for continuing to create space for authentic connection and relationship building.
